Malgudi Days...a time to remember...!!

                          There are not at all or a very few people who know nothing about "Malgudi Days"..!! Everybody is well acquainted with that popular tune "Ta na na...Ta na..na na na..." Everybody has a special memory for this series..including me..!! The name "Malgudi Days" brings a smile on my face..!! This R.K.Narayan's child really makes me forget everything..!! Whenever I watch these episodes I feel like I am living in Malgudi and I am among all those characters..!!
                 'Malgudi' though is a fictitious town in Southern India..can be any town..!!Because the stories...people...and so many small things can happen in any other town..!! You can find all these characters around you...!!! Those landmarks like that only fountain in the town...the fictitious 'Sarayu' river..'Palace Talkies'..and what not can be a part of every town..!! A very interesting thing about 'Malgudi Days' is that R.K.Narayan first pictured the Railway Station with a small platform..a Banyan tree..a station Master..and two trains a day..!! And not Malgudi Town..!! Even the first sentence he wrote about this town was..'The train had just arrived in Malgudi Station..'
                 And R.K.Laxman's illustrations are really amazing and they have really added life to the title song..!! And Carnatic musician L.Vaidyanathan's music is really touching...it itself takes us to the journey of Malgudi..!! And talking about the characters..I can write a special blog for every different character...still just want to mention some characters here..!! 

                  'Aaya'....who is so emotional towards others' kids...can not get love from her own sons..!! Her husband who has left her long back....when he comes back...she is so happy to see him rather than getting angry on him..and leaves everything for him..!! I myself have seen such woman right in my house..!! Even I had an 'Aaya'..though she was not just an Aaya for me..!! I was so close to her..that even if I think about her...I just can not control my tears..!! Though she is no more...she will always be in my heart..!! May her soul rest in peace..!!
                  'Kali' a very heart touching character...who is so affectionate towards school going kids..that he buys some sweets for those kids even when he can't afford it..!! And when he distributes those sweets among kids...other people mistake him...!!! When I saw that scene...it really moved me..!!

                    'Siddha' another nice story...the way he tells 'Leela' the stories about moon...is really amazing..!! A man who is not much educated can use words so nicely..!!

                    'Sheshadri' a funny character who is so fond of telling unbelievable stories about him..can be anyone around us..and he tells it so nicely that unwillingly other people tend to believe him..!! The place where all these people gather is a statue of Mr.Lawley,seated on a horse..is another landmark in the town..!!

                     And the most unforgettable character till today is 'Swami'..!! That cute little 10 yr old child and his innocent friends reminds me of my school days..!! A loving granny...a cute younger brother...strict but still caring parents and 2 very close friends..'Albert Mission school'...are his whole world..!!

                      He and his friends are so fascinated by cricket that they form their own cricket team..but 'Rajam' captain of the team has to leave the town soon after their first match..!! This is a nice story of Swami and Rajam...the journey of how they meet to how they depart..!!

                      I can write much more everyday about 'Malgudi Days'..!! Well..Thanks to R.K.Narayan and all the team members of 'Malgudi Days' and all the actors who made 'Malgudi Days' such an unforgettable memory for us..!!
